I want to personally thank all those residents who came by yesterday's Centennial Block Party celebration. Conservative numbers indicate we had at least 150 attend on a picture perfect day and it looked like a wonderful time was had by all. I would like to extend a special thanks to my planning committee: Leeann Murphy, Sandra Kline, Sally Scherer, Jay Christian, and Sara Constantine. This event would not have been possible without their hard work and dedication.
I also want to thank the efforts of Dwayne Rice and the staff at the Kenwick Community Center who worked tirelessly yesterday and were essential in our party's success. There were countless volunteers who came early to help us set up and get food ready, and I truly appreciate their efforts.
Vice Mayor Gray specifically told me that seeing this type of event and the community building that is taking place is his favorite part of city service and really enjoyed being there.
I would like to thank the Kenwick Neighborhood Association for their support and trust in asking me to lead this event.
I hope we can take the spirit and energy of yesterday's event and use it to continue the efforts of building a strong community for all residents of Kenwick.
