Destination 2040:Mayor Jim Newberry and the members of the Lexington-Fayette Urban
County Council invite everyone living in Lexington-Fayette County
(Kentucky) to help develop a shared community vision – a common sense
of direction for our community's future.
The purpose of Destination 2040 is to craft a consciously chosen
dream that has the widespread support, quality, commitment, and
follow-through needed to endure.
Destination 2040 is organized around a root question about the tough
choices we need to make together at this time: "How will we protect all
that we value while continuing to grow as a community?" It is necessary
to come to widespread community agreement on how to respond to this
question if Lexington-Fayette County is to move into the top tier of
the world's great places to live, work and visit.
Each of us have ideas about the kind of city Lexington should be what we should and could be doing now to head in the right direction – and LFUCG would like to hear these ideas! Be aware that there are ways to take part in Destination 2040. You can contribute ideas individually at "Have Your Say" on the project website, or attend one of several public meetings (dates and locations are on the Project Calendar on the website)
Between now and June 1, 2008, here are seven ways to help choose Lexington's future.
