Dear friends and neighbors,
Kenwick's residents pooled our tents, cookies, energies, and talents to once again produce a fantastic event.
The numbers are in and by our count, 586 individuals contributed $2,929 to the KNA's coffers. Not bad at $5 a head. Beyond that, we estimated we had at least 40 volunteers (who fittingly, were not asked to pay their way), so nearly 650 people enjoyed a hot but sunny afternoon on the streets of Kenwick.
It could not have been done without the happy help of many hands. Thanks to all of you who dragged coolers of ice out of your cars, staked signs around the neighborhood, scrubbed your bathrooms at 2 a.m. in anticipation of hundreds of visitors, and did all the other things that had to be done to make it a success.
For next year, our hope and intent is to make the tour part of a weekend-long centennial celebration of Kenwick. Five or six homeowners have already expressed interest in being on the tour in 2009, and I am hopeful there are many more individuals out there who want to be a part of the event as volunteers.
A reminder to the tour committee and any homeowners who want to attend; we will be "debriefing" the event, including assessing our strengths and weaknesses, at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday, June 17 at Victory Christian Church (without whom we could not do this event at all). Anyone who wants to be involved next year is invited to join us at that time and offer suggestions, or, you can just e-mail me back to express your interest.
Again, thank you to everyone who pitched in and helped or even just attended.
Sincerely, Kristin Bungalow Tour Gal and KNA President
