Great American Cleanup

We had a record turnout of a dozen volunteers today including a lot of very helpful kids. We walked around the neighborhood and picked up trash for over an hour. The best news is that we did not have much to pick up. At lot has changed since we first started participating in the Cleanup efforts -- so thank you all for keeping our neighborhood beautiful!

Date : Saturday, May 25, 2013   10 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Kenwick is participating in the great American Cleanup again this year.  KNA invites volunteers to walk around the neighborhood for about an hour to remove trash along our streets. You will be provided gloves and trash bags.  We will meet at 10 a.m. at the Kenwick Center.  Let’s all get together to help make our neighborhood beautiful!  For more information, call Leeann at 859-368-7216.

There are ways to dispose of unwanted items. If you have city garbage collection service, many items can be disposed of through regular collection. They even take up to 4 tires, off of the rim, on regular collection.  For large items (like mattresses) call Lexcall 3-1-1 to schedule a special pickup. Electronics can be taken to the e-waste facility on Versailles Road and they always encourage residents to take items to Habitat’s Restore location or donate to Goodwill. Latex paint can be recycled through Habitat as well. Once a quarter there is a free disposal day at the transfer station on Old Frankfort Pike for any resident to dispose of a pick-up truck load of household waste.
